Is it really May already..?

Apologies for a solid 6 months between updates! 2015 has been full of surprises and curveballs so far. I started the year in the States, seeing plenty of theatre in New York and lots of exploring. I went to 23 cities and still there's a lot of the beautiful USA I didn't get to see this time around. I spent a bit of time in Florida with my gorgeous friend Declan Egan who is currently the Elder Price standby in The Book of Mormon US tour. We hadn't seen each other in over two years... I actually ran down West 113th St screaming when I saw him get out of the cab. I love NYC - the energy of the city fills my heart and I can't wait to get back there again. I'd love to really spend more time getting to know the Broadway scene and meeting more amazing American artists like the one's in Declan's cast. Everyone is insanely talented, dedicated and ambitious. I came back to Australia very inspired and refreshed after a wonderful tour in The King & I.

I jumped straight into rehearsals for In The Heights which was very daunting! I hopped off the plane a little out of shape after two months of travelling, so the dance rehearsals with Yvette Lee & Kiara Kieser were a little harder than they should've been. It didn't take long for me to be welcomed into the ITH company and the entire season was a total delight. I never thought I'd get the chance to play Vanessa outside of singing in my bedroom, so to have sold out audiences who loved the show was a total blessing. It was also thrilling to have the challenge and responsibility of playing a principal role - big props to my director James Cutler & my leading man Stevie Lopez!

So what's next? The last 2 months have seen me in looooot's of auditions - I actually love auditioning, there's always a great vibe in the audition room and I think I perform well with a little bit of pressure! I'm looking forward to getting back in a rehearsal room and getting to work soon. The quiet times are as much a part of this career as the times when you are in a show or rehearsals... So I'm trying to enjoy the down time and look forward to what's coming next.
